The famous words Mina spoke at the United Nations HQ. Mina is ‘the man of the moment’ and part of Team Netherlands. Mina was born in the Middle East but fled to the Netherlands in 2009. Here he joined the local skate club, where he learned to skate. He lost 20 kg and made lots of friends. “He is no longer the scared and unsecure Mina we knew,” according to his mother.

"I found Special Olympics. A place of friendship. Of belonging. A place of inclusion. Of acceptance. Sport makes me happy! Thanks to the Lions I'm here. You give me the chance to change minds. To show what I can do. I can, I want, I do it, NOW!" he said in his speech at the UN. “New York was good and my speech too. I liked Central Park very much, fitness in the hotel and the ice rink. During my speech I think there were more than 1000 people. As soon as I finished they applauded very loudly. I would love to speak another time.”

Mina is having the time of his life thanks to Special Olympics!
