Figure Skating Protocol & Etiquette During Practice Be courteous Give way to other skaters   At Competition Athletes will come prepared and in enough time for the competition. Athletes will bring all of their equipment with them to a competition. Athletes will be allowed on the practice ice only when they are assigned. Athletes must check with the ice monitor before getting on the ice. Athletes should be aware of others on the ice during the warm-up. Coaches should check their athletes' costumes before athletes are allowed to compete. Coaches should have a back-up copy of the athletes' music.
