Volunteers Almost 9,000 volunteers supported the operations of the 2005 Special Olympics World Winter Games. Among other duties, volunteers welcomed participants and spectators, provided venue services and served as liaisons to the delegations from around the world. "Miffy," the creation of world-famous graphic designer Dick Bruna of the Netherlands, serves as volunteer mascot. Bruna created and generously donated the special illustration of Miffy on skis that will appear on volunteers' uniforms and credentials.
