Just the Facts - The World Games Edition
- Nearly 19,000 free health screenings were provided to athletes from 159 of 164 delegations at the 2007 Special Olympics World Summer Games. This is the largest number of athletes screened at a Healthy Athletes venue since the Programs inception in 1997.
- More than 800 volunteers helped out at Healthy Athletes over nine days.
- Approximately 4,900 Special Olympics athletes, or 69 percent of athletes participating in the World Games, were screened at the Special Olympics Healthy Athletes Village.
- Special Olympics athletes who went to Healthy Athletes received an average of 3.8 screenings.
- Over the course of the screenings, 110 hearing aids were provided, and more than 20 percent of those athletes who went through vision screenings received prescription eyewear.
