Special Olympics offers training and competition opportunities in 30 Olympic-type sports for athletes 8 years or older.  For children with intellectual disabilities ages 2 through 7, Special Olympics provides a Young Athletes Program. Special Olympics coaches have a unique opportunity to work with athletes in competitive situations to assist in their training for life. As a grass-roots organization, Special Olympics relies on volunteers at all levels of the movement to ensure that every athlete is offered a quality sports training and competition experience. Individual donors, corporate partners and many others make it possible for Special Olympics to offer children and adults with intellectual disabilities the opportunity to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage and experience joy through participation in the program.

The Procter & Gamble Company offers savings and donations to Special Olympics

P&G brandsaver promotionFor the twenty-sixth consecutive year, Special Olympics and The Procter & Gamble Company (P&G) have joined forces. P&G will launch the annual cause marketing promotion with its brandSaver coupon insert in over 55 million newspapers across the United States on Sunday, 25 December 2005. The insert includes more than US$57 worth of savings on such P&G products as Tide, Downy, Folgers, Pampers and Charmin.

For each participating product purchased from 25 December 2005 to 31 January 2006, P&G will donate 10 cents to Special Olympics, up to US$750,000 total. Consumers will save on their favorite brands while helping dedicated athletes experience their moment of triumph.
 
This year, P&G has brought CVS on board to help consumers save more money and raise additional funds for Special olympics athletes. From 25 December to 31 December 2005, CVS will donate 25 cents to Special Olympics for every P&G product purchased, up to US$100,000 total.

Products featured in the insert include Olay® Hand and Body lotion, Swiffer® WetJet® Starter Kit, and Pampers® Diapers jumbo pack. Special savings will be found for such popular brands as Tide®, Downy, Folgers®, Charmin®, CoverGirl®, Olay, Dawn®, Pantene®, Pringles®, Cascade®, Old Spice®, Bounty®, Iams®, Head & Shoulders®,  Sure®, Bounce®, Secret®, Metamucil®, Vicks®, Pepto-Bismal®, Thermacare®, Puffs®, Always, Crest® and Tampax®.

Over the past 25 years, P&G has raised more than US$35 million for Special Olympics, and an additional US$50 million through special retail promotions. In addition to financial support, hundreds of P&G employees volunteer at Special Olympics events worldwide each year.
