Special Olympics offers training and competition opportunities in 30 Olympic-type sports for athletes 8 years or older. For children with intellectual disabilities ages 2 through 7, Special Olympics provides a Young Athletes Program. Special Olympics coaches have a unique opportunity to work with athletes in competitive situations to assist in their training for life. As a grass-roots organization, Special Olympics relies on volunteers at all levels of the movement to ensure that every athlete is offered a quality sports training and competition experience. Individual donors, corporate partners and many others make it possible for Special Olympics to offer children and adults with intellectual disabilities the opportunity to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage and experience joy through participation in the program.

VistaPrint and Special Olympics announce exclusive holiday cards

21 September 2005

Cards are designed by Special Olympics athletes; portion of proceeds donated to the movement

Special Olympics and VistaPrint, a leading online supplier of high-quality graphic design services and customized printed products to small businesses and consumers, announced the availability of new Special Olympics holiday cards on 21 September.

Designed by Special Olympics athletes, and available only at www.vistaprint.com/specialolympics, Special Olympics holiday cards are the perfect way to express holiday cheer while donating money that will help provide sports training and athletic competition opportunities for people with intellectual disabilities. Prices start at just US$12.99 for 10 athlete-designed cards.

This card, designed by Molly Berry, a Special Olympics Maine (USA) athlete, is one of the holiday cards available through VistaPrint.

“VistaPrint, through their Special Olympics holiday cards, is yet another example of how corporations are executing opportunities to encourage acceptance and support of our athletes,” said Bruce Pasternack, President and CEO of Special Olympics. “These holiday cards offer customers a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the season by helping raise awareness and funding opportunities that not only change the lives of our athletes, but the lives of everyone who is touched by our movement.”

As with all of VistaPrint’s products, these exclusive Special Olympics holiday cards are completely customizable, full color, printed on high-quality paper and are available for a low cost. Customers can choose glossy or matte finishes and quantity options range from just 10 all the way up to 20,000. Fifty percent of the purchase price from all Special Olympics cards will be donated to Special Olympics.

Those wishing to create their own holiday card designs and yet still donate to Special Olympics will have the ability to choose sponsorship levels ranging from US$1 up to US$249. Sponsorship levels will be printed on the back as “Sponsor” or in the form of bronze, silver or gold medals. A platinum level is also available.

These new cards join a full line of holiday printed products available at VistaPrint. Customers can choose from hundreds of holiday templates, upload their own photos and designs or utilize VistaPrint’s free design services via a toll-free hotline at 1-800-721-6215 for a professionally designed product. Products can be designed and received in as little as three business days and VistaPrint’s printed products are satisfaction guaranteed.

“Special Olympics is a fantastic organization that brings joy to people with intellectual disabilities,” said Robert Keane, President and CEO of VistaPrint. “We hope that these exclusive holiday cards will help spread that joy, enabling the organization to continue to make a difference in the lives of all individuals participating in Special Olympics events.”
