Intel India has announced a unique long-term association with Special Olympics Bharat (India) to provide information technology skills and support to the Program, allowing it to fully leverage the benefits of technology in extending the Special Olympics movement across India.
The relationship will address the training needs of Special Olympics Bharat sub-Programs in the use of information technology to streamline their databases; enable effective communication; maintain records of state Games; and, in the long run, create and maintain their own Web sites, among other activities. Intel India will also take this opportunity to provide 35 laptops to the 23 Special Olympics offices across India.
"We are very enthusiastic about our support to Special Olympics," said Ketan Sampat, President of Intel India. "Through this initiative, we would like to help create greater opportunities for potential athletes from India to be part of the Special Olympics movement."
Through its association with Special Olympics, Intel also is striving to make a difference in communities throughout the world. These efforts go well beyond donation programs, including activities in which Intel employees invest time and effort in long-term engagements to make a difference. "This is also a unique opportunity for Intel employees to partner with a valuable social cause wherein they donate their time and resources and make a difference in the lives of the mentally disabled in our country" said Pervin Das Gupta, Senior Regional Manager of Special Olympics Asia Pacific.
"We are proud that Intel has partnered with Special Olympics and together we will bring the message of sport, joy and human acceptance to communities," Said Fay Nafici, Vice President, Information Technology, for Special Olympics. "As we work to double the number of Special Olympics athletes globally to 2 million strong, this ongoing partnership will be of tremendous support."
