A University Joins Special Olympics Lebanon's Calls for Unity

Within the framework of our goal to promote acceptance and respect within the community, a football unified sport games was organized on Wednesday 27th of February 2013 at Beirut Arab University (BAU) Campus (1.00pm – 3.30 pm). The game started at 1 o’clock where organizers welcomed SO Lebanon athletes. Mrs. Maha Abou El Hosson, head of SO Lebanon technical committee, delivered a speech covering a quick overview about Special Olympics mission, philosophy and its different initiatives, including the r-word campaign. She invited everyone to support the r-word campaign through signing the pledge which will be displayed till the 6th of March 2013 at the campus to collect more signatures and support. Afterwards, attendees went to the soccer field to enjoy the football unified game. It was a good match; everyone enjoyed athletes’ presence and was fascinated by their skills and abilities. The referee praised the game and the skills of Special Olympics Lebanon team, greeted with applause. In conclusion and before leaving, SOL athletes were invited to have lunch at the university campus.
