Compassion at an All New Level

By Holly Claytor

Jesse has been involved with Special Olympics Virginia since October 2008. He has participated as a partner in our Unified Sports® program with a number of athletes, including his brother, Wayne. Most recently Jesse and Wayne competed together on the Mean Machine softball team from Hanover County. The team competed in a tournament, Rally on Two, on August 10th at Dorey Park in Henrico, Virginia. Unfortunately, the umpires that were secured for the tournament had a scheduling conflict and were unable to attend at the last minute. Rather than carrying out his typical role as a partner for Wayne, Jesse stepped up into an even bigger role without hesitation. He facilitated three games as an umpire for the tournament. Jesse did an exceptional job with these responsibilities, and he did it all with a smile.
