First Open Water Open Swimming Coaches Seminar in the Netherlands

By Natascha Bruers

15 participants from 13 countries took part in the first European Open Water Coaches Seminar in Zeist, the Netherlands. Representatives from far and cold North: Murmansk in Russia as well as very warm Israel and Malta took part in first in Europe Open Water Swimming Seminar. Regardless of bad weather practical sessions took place with three SO Netherlands swimmers who took part in mini- competitions at the lake. Open Water Swimming is the "youngest" Special Olympics sport mostly thanks to Kester Edwards efforts with Aldis Berzins support. SO Netherlands is planning to organize the first European competitions in 2014. We appreciate Natascha Bruers, Wendy Scholten and SO Netherlands staff as well as Kester Edwards and Ann McLindon, SO Open Water Resourse Team Chair.
