Make People with Disabilities Count

By Christy White

Our Chairman Tim Shriver urges you to read this very powerful blog by Chris Heaton Harris, former member of the European Parliament. In this blog for the Huffington Post, Harris writes that more needs to be done to help people with intellectual disabilities and although he’s “proud that the British government is spending 0.7% of our GDP on international development, we must commit to understand the inequality facing people with disabilities and do more.” Special Olympics empowers people with intellectual disabilities, promotes acceptance for all, and fosters communities of understanding and respect worldwide. One place that we can all start, is to ask those countries we assist, to make people with disabilities count. Click below to read this powerful piece.
