Pedal Power in Special Olympics Nippon 5th Hiroshima Cycling Competition

By Karyn Tan

33 Japanese athletes from Hiroshima, Tokushima and Kumamoto participated in the Special Olympics Nippon Hiroshima Cycling Competition 2014 last weekend. The event featured road races from 5 to 25km, and 400m and 800m track races in the Hiroshima Velodrome. Professional Keirin racers (a form of road-bike racing) also provided a cycling demo for the athletes. Now in its fifth year, the competition is supported by the Hiroshima Cycling Federation.
