SO Tanzania athletes at the front of the referral line!

By Lauren Wyndham Quin

Special Olympics Tanzania conducted a FunFitness and Health Promotion screening in the Coastal Region on 13th April. Family members were encouraged to accompany athletes to provide the clinical staff with critical health information and history for accurate diagnoses. A total of 27 athletes from FunFitness and 4 from Health Promotion were referred for further treatment at Kibaha (Tumbi) Hospital. Thanks to a special arrangement made by 2 local clinical volunteers, Mr. Amarine Mushi and Dr. Janeth Kijio, family members and coaches were able to take all athletes directly to Dr. Shayo or Dr. Kijio who agreed to fast track their appointments and provide immediate and effective treatment. Once all treatments have been concluded, a full report will be provided to the Program.
