Special Olympics is committed to fostering fitness and healthy lifestyle choices among our Movement. Together, whatever the age or skill level, we will break down barriers and improve the way we have fun, develop skills and build self-esteem, all while participating in fun activities and eating healthy!
The Special Olympics GET FIT FOR SPORT challenge is for YOU! Athletes (Like me!), Families, Coaches, Volunteers, Staff, Board Members, Friends, and everyone (over the age of 6 years) associated with Special Olympics. This challenge encourages you to set goals and perform physical activities and eat healthy for a 16 week period (that's only 80 days).
For physical activity, complete 60 minutes/day for kids, 30 minutes/day for adults, of daily activity five days a week for sixteen weeks. Also, eat healthy by adding a weekly healthy eating goal. Add a new physical activity and healthy eating goal each week, while continuing with goals from previous weeks. By the time you are finished, good eating habits will be part of your new, healthy lifestyle!
