Special Olympics Summer National Games - Bath - 2013

By Jan Williams/ Head Coach/Wales

I'm a coach and I heard this comment by an athlete bowling at the Great Britain Games in Bath. One athlete had just had five strikes, and another athlete said, "Two strikes is a double, three strikes is a turkey, four we say is a double double. What is five strikes?" I said, "It's just five in a row," to which he said, "We could say three, turkey. Four, turkey and stuffing, Five, turkey, stuffing and cranberry sauce??????" The other athletes and coaches fell about laughing. I think we will hang on to that one!

About Jan Williams/ Head Coach/Wales: Got involved with Special Olympics as a volunteer in 1987 with swimming and athletics then in 1999 started a tenpin bowling team with just 2 people, now have 22 bowlers who with my other coaches train every wednesday at Nantgarw Bowlplex, some of my bowlers have competed in World, International, National and regional games, we are a very happy group and a good time is had by all.
