Britain's Got Talent star Susan Boyle performs at Bath 2013 Opening Ceremony.

The singer Susan Boyle, who won international fame when she appeared on ITV's Britain's Got Talent, has been playing a key role at the Special Olympics Great Britain National Summer Games in Bath.

Not only did she perform her famous rendition of "I Dreamed a Dream" from Les Miserables at the Opening Ceremony in the Royal Crescent on August 28th, she awarded medals to the winning athletes on the first day of the Games.

“I feel very honoured and very humble. The atmosphere here is just electric,” said Susan Boyle of her experience at the Games. “You can actually feel the passion in the air. Everyone is so enthusiastic about what they are doing and its fun!” 1,700 Special Olympics athletes from across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, are competed in 12 different sports over three days at the University of Bath.
