Tip A Cop honors longtime supporter, raises record amount of money

By Tela Mange

Constable Brian Bachmann had participated in an Opening Ceremony for the Chapter Equestrian Games just three months before his death.

This year’s statewide Law Enforcement Torch Run "Tip A Cop" at more than 40 Texas Roadhouse locations was a great success. One event in particular broke Special Olympics Texas records: the Heart of East Texas area raised more than $16,000 in an event dedicated to the memory of Constable Brian Bachmann, a longtime LETR member. (Their goal had been to raise $10,000.) Constable Bachmann was killed in the line of duty in August 2012—just weeks after he had participated in the annual Tip A Cop fundraiser…and just three months after he had passed the torch at the Chapter Equestrian Games in Bryan-College Station. Bachmann had been a volunteer with the LETR since 2000 and was always willing to help out wherever he could.
