Young Athletes are having fun in Zambia

By William Sikapanda

Special Olympics Zambia hosted a Fun Day at the Soloboni Primary School in Kafue where a total of 35 athletes, 7 teachers and 6 parents participated. The activity was led by Ms.Yvonne Mentor a volunteer from Great Britain. At her visits to special school, she saw the lack of equipment and resources for the younger children. Yvonne decided to do something about it and went back to the UK to source basic junior fundamental, cognitive and motor skills equipment. This equipment was demonstrated at the athlete’s Fun Day amidst much enjoyment, laughter and smiles. These resources were distributed to physical education teachers from each province and will be used to develop the Young Athletes programs in their schools. Thank you, Yvonne for helping our young athletes in Zambia.
