Thank You Eunice Kennedy Shriver
The world of Special Olympics as we know it today is the result of the vision of one woman – Special Olympics founder Eunice Kennedy Shriver.
In the spirit of gratitude, Special Olympics invites each of you to extend your own personal “thank you” to Mrs. Shriver. We also encourage you to share with her something you hope to achieve in the future thanks to the courage or inspiration you have found through Special Olympics.
Post your thank you to Eunice Kennedy Shriver
Your personal “thank you” to Mrs. Shriver can be submitted as a written thank you, a video thank you, or even an audio thank you! Just join the Fan Community Group, “Thank Mrs. Shriver,” and share your personal appreciation and gratitude with the founder of the movement.
Be sure to tell Mrs. Shriver why you are thanking her. Perhaps you have a story of acceptance in your school that happened when you found the courage in Special Olympics to reach out and greet someone in the hallway. Maybe you want to share a video telling Mrs. Shriver about a moment of dignity you experienced in your community when Special Olympics gave you the confidence to go out and get involved in a local church group or neighborhood project. You may even want to thank her with a song or audio message that shares a story of fun from a competition event.
So be a fan of gratitude and send your personal “thank you” to Mrs. Shriver for her vision, her determination and the dedication of her life’s work to creating opportunities for people with intellectual disabilities and, most importantly, for building communities of acceptance and dignity for all of us!
