The Special Olympics movement is profoundly grateful for the support of The Annenberg Foundation which has underwritten the production of the coaches’ guides and resources, supporting our global goals for coaches’ excellence.
History of Support
Special Olympics’ five year strategic plan includes goals to advance quality sports and competition, increase the number of athletes to 5.3 million worldwide, and double the number of coaches to 530,000. These are ambitious goals yet at the root of all this is coaches’ support. Ensuring that our coaching resources are of the highest quality and caliber is a strategy we have in recruiting and retaining more coaches, and ensuring we deliver the best quality sports experience to our athletes.
Thanks to The Annenberg Foundation grant in support of coaching excellence - Special Olympics will be able to ensure our athletes reach their maximum potential by continuing to educate all of our coaches through enhanced and more effective resources.
The Annenberg Foundation is a private family foundation that provides funding and support to nonprofit organizations in the United States and globally. The Foundation and its Board of Directors are also directly involved in the community with innovative projects that further its mission to advance the public well-being through improved communication. The Foundation encourages the development of effective ways to share ideas and knowledge.
