Stars on Pars

The first Stars on Pars© in 2011 was a huge success!... More than 350 people played golf in the dark in competitions held in Auckland, Feilding, Tauranga and Wellington. The events in 2012 will follow the same format as last year with the added bonus of an new venue, Hawkes Bay. We have adjusted the entry fee to provide more options and included the opportunity to sponsor an athlete to join your team as a player or a spotter, you can meet our star athletes, and they come with some pretty impressive golf skills! The entry fee is now reduced and we are now offering an Early Bird Special. As our major fundraiser for 2012 we are aiming to attract 18 teams to play nine holes of golf and hope that you will join us!

IT STARTS WITH A VOICE - Benefit Concert

Amy & Ben Wright have been married for nineteen years and are the proud parents of four amazing, biological children. Their two youngest, Beau, age 7, and Bitty, age 2, both have Down Syndrome.  Since their arrival, they have made it their mission to advocate for the rights of people with intellectual disabilities and to help spread a message of inclusion and acceptance.  Their mission has led them to creating a very special project.  It is a song that they have written that will soon be available worldwide on iTunes.  Once on iTunes, a percentage of each sale will be donated to Special Olympics' "Spread the Word to End the Word."  They will be performing the world premiere of this song, June 14, 2012, at a Benefit Concert at Thalian Hall in Wilmington, NC. The evening will begin with a concert of Broadway show tunes and culminate with the world premiere of their song. (Prior to becoming parents, Ben and I were fortunate enough to enjoy successful Broadway careers.) 100% of the profits from this event will be donated to Special Olympics' "Spread the Word to End the Word." The following day, the song will be available on iTunes, where a portion of all sales will be donated to this same cause. It is their hope, that this benefit concert will raise awareness and help fund the ongoing efforts to spread a message of inclusion and acceptance.
