Special Olympics Wyoming Hosts Its Second Youth Activation Summit

In November, nearly 100 youth and mentors representing 14 schools from 8 different Wyoming communities attended the 2010 Wyoming Youth Activation Summit in Casper, Wyoming.  That’s more than DOUBLE the participation from last year’s inaugural Summit!

Students from Bridger Valley pose for their annual Project UNIFY photo.

Attendees were educated, motivated and given the tools to activate acceptance and respect for all individuals in their communities.  Fun games, such as the Human Taco Game helped break the ice and got youth interacting with each other!

Youth learned about how to get involved with or start a Unified Sports® team in their community as well as how to facilitate a “Spread the Word to End the Word” activity at their school in March.

A team of youth from Jackson, who volunteer with their Young Athlete Program at home, facilitated a Young Athlete demonstration and encouraged everyone else to volunteer in their respective communities.

This year’s Wyoming Youth Activation Summit included representation from: Bridger Valley, Cheyenne, Casper, Douglas, Dubois, Gillette, Jackson and Worland.

Check out the fun that was had by all!
