Bowlers aim for Cyprus

All Lanes Lead to Cyprus for the 2012 European Bowling Championships

250 Bowlers

For the first time ever Cyprus will host the 2012 Special Olympics European Bowling Championships. This pan-European competition will take place from October 22 – 27 at the Cosmic Bowling Centre in Paphos under the auspices of the Mayor of Paphos, Savvas Vergas. The Opening Ceremony will take place on Tuesday, October 23rd at 6.30pm.

More than 250 Special Olympics athletes from 15 European countries will travel to Cyprus to compete for the title of European Bowling Champions.

Special Olympics teams from the following nations will participate:

AUSTRIA; BELGIUM; CYPRUS;
DENMARK; ESTONIA; FINLAND;
FRANCE; GREAT BRITAIN; GREECE; HUNGARY; IRELAND; MALTA; KAZAKHSTAN; POLAND; RUSSIA;

 

Building Bowling

Bowling is one of 30 sports offered by Special Olympics and continues to grow from strength to strength. In 2012 Special Olympics signed a partnership agreement with the European Ten Pin Bowling Federation (EPBF) to provide more opportunities in Bowling for people with intellectual disabilities.
