Shane Stewart from Canmore Alberta Canada

Ten years ago, Shane learned to Cross-country Ski as part of his rehabilitation from a Traumatic Brain injury. He wasn't sure he liked it at first - it was a lot of work. But our town is the training centre of the Canadian Olympic Cross-country team, and after getting to know some of Canada's Olympians, Shane wanted to become one as well. He now embraces the hard work, trains twelve months a year to prepare for representing Canada, and never stops smiling his trademark smile. Special Olympics has been wonderful for Shane allowing him to travel and make new friends wherever he goes. We have nothing but the highest praise for the organizers and coaches who give of their time to support Shane and the other athletes here in South Korea. On Shane's behalf I would like to thank his employers at Safeway for their support allowing him time off to train and race, and thanks to Neil Fox and John Reeves for their help in Shane's training.

About Me:

We are Shane's proud parents. We have been travelling in South Korea for the last week and will be moving on to Cambodia, Vietnam, And Thailand with Shane after the Games.
