Special Olympics Texas announces Capital Campaign for new headquarters

Special Olympics Texas is kicking off a $6-million capital campaign to construct a new headquarters building for the organization in Austin. “This new facility will be a game-changer for Special Olympics Texas and its thousands of athletes and their families,” said Billy Glass, chairman of the Capital Campaign and the father of a Special Olympics Texas athlete. “Having a new, state-of-the-art facility will allow Special Olympics Texas to create additional opportunities and programs for our athletes.” Special Olympics Texas expects to construct the new headquarters building on land near the corner of Rutherford Lane and U.S. 290 E. The 18,000-square-foot building will contain offices, meeting space and teleconferencing facilities, as well as a Family Resource Center and high-tech training rooms for coaches, volunteers, athletes and medical professionals.
