Team Australia ready for first Asia Pacific Games

300x200 Team Australia
Australia's Special Olympics athletes have vowed to be brave in their attempt to win gold at the Special Olympics Asia Pacific Games. The inaugural games for athletes with an intellectual disability will be held in Newcastle from December 1-7 and will feature more than 2500 athletes from 32 countries. The 400-strong Australian team includes men and women of all ages including swimmer Lucy Dumitrescu, footballer Liam O'Donnell, basketballer Claudia Jackson and cricketer Harry Langford. Swimmer Keiran Corry said he was confident Team Australia athletes would collect a healthy medal haul and compete in the right spirit. "We will give it our personal best in Newcastle because we all believe in the Special Olympics Athlete Oath....and I will ask my teammates to say it with me,'' he said. "Let me win, but if I cannot win, let me be brave in the attempt.''
