The fact that one man could contribute so much to the Special Olympics Movement in France is testimony to his determination and generosity of spirit. Special Olympics France's Board of Directors join us in this tribute and send love and support to his family.
The sad passing last week of Christian Cogny reminds us of the powerful legacy he left behind. According to National Director Alain Deletoille “Christian not only had exceptional personal qualities, his perspective was always positive and he always worked with a disconcerting calm. I will remember for a long time those moments we shared during travels abroad or during seminars. He gave because he wanted to make the world a better place. He was a good man, a righteous man.” As Sports Director for Special Olympics France, Christian created Holiday Camps, Montaigu’s Tournament, The National Games of 2007 in Saint Laurent and the United Soccer Tournament at the Parc des Prince Stadium with the UGSEL. He was a Sports teacher, closely tied to the Soccer Club of Montaigu and contributed with passion and enthusiasm to our cause. The 2014 United Soccer Tournament at the Parc des Princes Stadium will carry Christian’s name and will be an ultimate tribute to his memory. Gone too soon but never forgotten.
