Abu Dhabi Will be Host of 2019 World Games

The Special Olympics World Games 2019 will take place in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. The World Games will take place in venues throughout Abu Dhabi from 14 to 21 March 2019. It will be the first Special Olympics World Games held in the Middle East. The local organizing committee of the 2019 World Games announced the dates and details on 24 January. Government officials and executives and ambassadors from Special Olympics were on hand for the announcement in Zayed Sports City. Abu Dhabi will welcome 7,000 athletes and their families from 170 countries to the World Games. The athletes will compete in 22 sports in venues throughout the emirate. Venues will include ADNEC, Zayed Sports City and the IPIC arena. Special Olympics UAE has a strong Program serving nearly 5,000 athletes and over 250 coaches in 14 sports. The Program holds competitions 70 times a year.
