Western NY Rallies to Promote Respectful Language

In Rochester, Syracuse and Buffalo, more than 70 organizations, schools, colleges, medical centers, and businesses are joining the Golisano Foundation in its annual campaign to Spread the Word to End the Word. At Rochester’s City Hall, Mayor Lovely Warren kicked off the 2017 campaign at a press conference proclaiming the day ‘End the R word Day’ and asking people to take a stand against using the R-word, and instead use respectful language. Other pledge events include the screening of the film, “Diffability Hollywood”, Rochester’s first Inclusive Fashion Show presented by Best Buddies and Nazareth College, the first Smile Day in Buffalo at the Museum of disability with help of University at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine, and appearances by three professional sports teams – the Rochester Rhinos, Razorsharks and Nighthawks - at various pledge events.

About Me:

The Golisano Foundation is one of the largest private foundations in the US devoted exclusively to supporting programs for people with intellectual disabilities.
