The countdown to the Special Olympics Great Britain National Games is on.
The Games take place in Sheffield next month and media interest so far has been extensive. The Special Olympics Great Britain National Games kick off with a spectacular opening ceremony at Sheffield United’s Bramall Lane stadium on 8 August. Four days of thrilling and uplifting sporting action will follow.
The Sheffield Games will be the biggest disability sports event in the country in 2017, with 2,600 athletes with learning disabilities from across England, Scotland and Wales taking part in 20 different sports. Follow it with #Sheffield17.
The week-long Games are no stranger to Sheffield as the city hosted the games in 1993 with great success. The Games represent a significant opportunity to showcase the abilities of children and adults with intellectual disabilities and will create memories that Special Olympics Great Britain athletes and fans will cherish forever.
