Mattel and Special Olympics are celebrating 13 years of partnership in 2017. Mattel’s employee engagement program, Team Mattel, has set the gold standard for global employee volunteerism at Special Olympics. Over the last five years, Mattel has brought over 11,100 volunteers to Special Olympics competitions, which accounts for more than 35 percent of their total, global workforce.

Young Athletes and World Games Support

Mattel also continues to provide critical support for Special Olympics Young Athletes, which introduces children ages 2 ½ to 7 years to our movement and creates innovative programs ranging from health pilot projects at the Mattel Children’s Hospital to Hot Wheels Cycling Club trainings with our athletes. Mattel also has a long history of support to Special Olympics World Games. They have supported every World Games since 2007, sending volunteers from over a dozen countries to Games in China, Greece and South Korea. As Official Partner and Founding Champion of the 2015 World Games in Los Angeles, Mattel provided over 1,000 employee volunteers and unprecedented support for this marquee event, which included sponsorship of the basketball and cycling venues as well as Special Olympics USA Cycling Team. Special Olympics is grateful for the longstanding partnership with Mattel who inspires the wonder of childhood around the world.
