Safilo’s involvement with Special Olympics started in 2003 as global supplier of the Special Olympics-Lions Clubs International Opening Eyes® vision care program. Sàfilo supports the Opening Eyes program by supplying free optical frames and sunglasses.

History of Support

The partnership between Safilo Group and Special Olympics dates back to 2003 which has led to over 1 million optical frames and sunglasses provided to Special Olympics athletes all over the world. Safilo announced a new three-year commitment to Special Olympics in February 2016, renewing its support with the donation of over 160,000 spectacles and sunglasses per year through 2018 as part of the Special Olympics-Lions Clubs International Opening Eyes® program. In addition, Safilo personnel will continue to take an active part in the implementation of the events as volunteers, donating their time and expertise for the benefit of Special Olympics athletes and those with intellectual disabilities.
