My name is Shawn Wilson Enos Ishikawa Hinz, and I have been participating in Special Olympics Oregon for over 10 years. I first got involved at the age of 8 and have participated in various sports such as swimming, basketball, and golf.

The reason I am writing this is to give you an insight as to why Special Olympics Oregon is not just an amazing sports organization, but why it is a life changing journey that affects the lives of thousands of individuals with intellectual disabilities every year. When I first started Special Olympics Oregon as a swimmer, I saw that Special Olympics Oregon is a community where I do not have to hide my disabilities. I have been encouraged to be myself and inspire other athletes to do the same. With your support, you are not only providing us athletes with the ability to compete and win in sports, you are providing us athletes with the chance to win and compete in life. Thank you!

About Me:

I am diagnosed with ADHD, Sensory Processing Disorder, Auditory Processing Disorder, working memory delay, and a few other learning disabilities as well as Spina Bifida Occulta that needed surgery to fix. On top of all that, I was ALSO born with Cerebral Palsy, cleft lip/cleft palate and Fetal Alcohol Syndrome…. And at only 7 weeks old, I was adopted from the Marshall Islands by my incredible mom and dad.
