Juan Mata, one of the stars of the Spanish National football team and a Manchester United midfielder, joined in with a Young Athletes training session at the Princess Sofia public school for children with intellectual disabilities in Madrid. The session happened on Friday, October 9th before Spain took on Luxembourg in the European Cup qualifiers. The Young Athletes programme is delivered by Special Olympics with the support of the Laureus Foundation of which Mata is an ambassador. "For me it is a pleasure to add my two cents. I am just glad to see all these kids working to improve their motor skills and their quality of life through sport. I think it's fantastic. Congratulations on everything you do," said the player. Special Olympics Young Athletes™ is a unique sport and play program for children with intellectual disabilities. The focus is on fun activities that are important to mental and physical growth.
