My Coaches Were There For Me

Alt Image
On this date June 8th, 2013, three years ago today my mom passed away. I remember where I was exactly. I was heading home from Special Olympics volleyball practice. I was the one who found her. It really traumatized me. I started not eating enough in the days and the years that went by. I lost tons of weight while at first it was good it ended up being too much. I started having anger issues and was angry at myself and the whole world. While all of this happened I had coaches who were behind me the whole way from Special Olympics. I had coaches who would take me out during these periods to either go golfing or do something. I also found running more helped. I started entering more races even entering the unified portion of the Special Olympics world games half marathon in LA and coaches were there for me too when others weren't. I had two Special Olympics coaches who came down to stay with me from Arizona so I could run in the 2015 world games half marathon. It was so much fun. I have done a total of 17 half marathons since May of last year. I even have had Special Olympics coaches run with me in some of them. I have gained back the weight I needed to and am happier and confident. Coaches have also been there for me when I have needed them. True friends are there for you during any time you need them good times or bad and Special Olympics coaches have been there for me during these times.

About Me:

I am a Special Olympics athlete from Arizona with autism and epilepsy. I have completed 17 half marathons and many 5Ks and 10Ks.
