The Cauldron is lit - 2018 SO Australia National Games Opening Ceremony

I travelled to Adelaide, South Australia in mid April to take part in the LETR Final Leg for the Special Olympics Australia National Games. Following a handover ceremony in Mildura, Victoria where Victoria Police Chief Commissioner Graham Ashton handed the 'Flame of Hope' to South Australia Police Commissioner Grant Stevens, LETR South Australia ran the torch through a number of rural towns before reaching Adelaide.

The highlight was the Torch Run on Monday, April 16 when over 100 police officers and athletes ran with the 'Flame of Hope' from Police Headquarters to Government House bringing the streets of central Adelaide to a standstill. Later that day, the 'Flame of Hope' entered Titanium Stadium during the Opening Ceremony of the SO Australia National Games with the Games Cauldron lit in the presence of Governor-General Sir Peter Cosgrove and over 1000 athletes from around the country.

Congratulations to LETR South Australia on a job well done.
