Meet Brenton Heslehurst from Special Olympics Australia. He lives over 2,000km from the nearest Australian snowfields so he’s super thrilled to be selected to represent Australia at the Special Olympics World Games 2017 in alpine skiing. This will be Brenton's third World Games, having represented Australia in football in 2003 at Dublin, and again in 2011 at Athens. Brenton says, “I’m proud to be representing my country at the highest level...but my greatest achievement is meeting my wife and we’ve just had our first baby.” Brenton’s wife Emily is also a Special Olympics Australia athlete. Their son Daniel was born in May 2016. Brenton works at IGA supermarkets, which has been a national partner of Special Olympics Australia for almost 25 years. "I hope that others with disabilities get the opportunities I've been lucky enough to get," says Brenton. "The fun I've had is priceless."
