X Games Minneapolis 2019 to Debut Special Olympics Unified BMX Race

Announcement Marks 100 Days Out from X Games Minneapolis 2019.

Minneapolis, MN - 23 April 2019: After celebrating five successful years of Unified Snowboarding at X Games winter edition in Aspen, X Games Minneapolis 2019 will debut a Special Olympics Unified BMX Race at X Fest at U.S. Bank Stadium in Downtown Minneapolis on Thursday, August 1. The event, which kicks off X Games Minneapolis, will be free to the public.

Teams will be comprised of one professional action sports athlete, including X Games and Olympic medalists, and one Special Olympics action sports athlete for a total of ten, two-person teams. The teams will compete in a dual BMX Race, with X Games Aspen gold medalist Alex Ferreira confirmed to compete in the first-time event.

Special Olympics Unified Sports includes people with and without intellectual disabilities on the same team. ESPN is the global presenting sponsor and official broadcaster of Special Olympics Unified Sports.

While Thursday’s X Fest programming, including the first-ever Special Olympics Unified BMX Race, is free to the public, X Games tickets are available now at www.xgames.com/tickets and start at just $22. Ticket prices will increase next Wednesday, May 1.
