A Letter from Nomaliza Leah Tutu

My involvement with Special Olympics is still new, but the impact that Special Olympics will have on my life will be with me forever. I truly feel blessed to have been and continue to be a part of a movement that has helped positively change the lives of young and old South African citizens. And the founder, Eunice Kennedy Shriver serves as an inspiration to us all, for her courage and determination in the face of adversity is matched only by the valour of our athletes. My life experiences have been many filled with great sadness, great joy and great pride but I am happy that the joy and pride I feel about the accomplishments of Special Olympics South Africa athletes will always overshadow the sadness that I may feel for not getting involved in this wonderful movement much earlier. But I am here to stay and it will also be my honour to serve the Special Olympics athletes of South Africa.
