Maya Roseboro - North Carolina Youth Ambassador

Maya Roseboro

U.S. Youth Ambassador

Hola! Olá! Hallo! My name is Maya Roseboro, I am 14 years old, and proud to be a rising freshman at Isaac Bear Early College in North Carolina. I became involved in the Special Olympics Movement in 7th grade when my ELA teacher invited me to be in her Unified Club. I met Bobby in that club, and since then, we have reconnected over the summer and gotten the chance to share our love for biking, kickball, and animals! Though my first two years in a Unified Club were modified due to COVID-19, I had a blast adapting to the new environment and creating new ways to be inclusive while staying safe. Being involved in the Special Olympics movement has allowed me to see the empowerment that comes from education, athletics, and being able to share your abilities and dreams with the world! I have always been a person that strives to connect others and share the art of giving with the world. I have held various leadership positions at my school, including serving as the Junior Beta Club President, serving on the EYES (Engaging Youth, Empowering Students) Committee and the Student Equity Team, and more! I love running, soccer, and lacrosse, art, science, and math, and just about anything that involves learning and creativity! Change comes by choosing, again and again, to acknowledge the past, abandon the current “norms” and standards, and act to transform the future and allow everyone the right to be. I am honored to serve as a Youth Ambassador, and share the magic of connection and change as we work towards a more inclusive, diverse, and equitable society.
