
Dr Wei Ker-Chiah’s sub-specialty interest is in the area of intellectual and developmental disabilities. As Head of the Adult Neurodevelopmental Service in the Institute of Mental Health, he set up Singapore’s first specialist inter-disciplinary psychiatric clinic for adults with developmental disabilities at the Community Wellness Clinic in Queenstown in 2012. The clinic has since expanded to comprise of a range of specialist inpatient and outpatient mental health services for adults with developmental disabilities. He also started the IMH-MSF ID Consultancy Programme, which is a joint project with the Ministry of Social and Family Development (MSF) that provides clinical support and skills training in mental health to Voluntary Welfare Organizations caring for people with developmental disabilities.
