International Day of Yoga
Celebrate the International Day of Yoga with Special Olympics on 21 June! Yoga is important to Special Olympics athletes around the world. It is a great way to relax before an important competition or focus before a practice. Special Olympics Middle East/North Africa (MENA) has been hosting yoga classes virtually to continue to inspire Special Olympics athletes to do yoga at home. After an initial five class yoga series in April and May, Special Olympics MENA created a virtual yoga challenge for people to participate in from home and will be hosting another yoga session on 21 June. Most importantly, the parents in each family expressed to the world how deeply proud they are of their children—for the wonderful people that they are. With this video, we wish to honour the unwavering devotion of the 50,000 parents of Special Olympics Europe Eurasia and thank them for their dedication which gives strength, vitality and the deepest felt humanity to our movement—in times of crisis and beyond. <br/>

The Special Olympics World Winter Games in Kazan, Russia in 2022 will serve as a catalyst that will challenge negative thinking and perceptions about people with intellectual disabilities, and all people with differences, and demonstrate to the world the power of sport to establish thriving, inclusive communities by transforming attitudes and behaviors.<br/><br/>From 22 – 28 January 2022 2,000 athletes and Unified partners from 108 Nations and 3,000 Volunteers from all over the world will gather in Kazan to create acceptance and inclusion through sport, volunteerism, education and health.
