Special Olympics Unified Cup Detroit 2022 COVID-19 Polices

Health Advisory: In the best interest of participants, fans, and staff, the Event Organizer will continue to monitor local COVID-19 trends and meet or exceed protocols mandated by local governments. By registering for this event, you agree to abide by the health and safety measures in effect at the time of the event, which may include, but not be limited to, wearing masks, providing proof of vaccination status, and/or providing proof of negative COVID-19 test.

MEMBERS OF THE DELEGATION

Athletes, Unified Partners, Heads of Delegation, Assistant Heads of Delegation, delegation medical staff and all other delegation staff and volunteers from all countries, domestic and international.

VACCINE & BOOSTERS

Members of delegation are required to be fully vaccinated with a WHO-approved vaccine no later than the travel deadline of May 15, 2022.

All members of delegation are strongly encouraged to follow WHO guidelines for COVID vaccine boosters.

All delegates are required to provide proof of vaccination and upload it to the SO Connect registration platform.

TESTING PRE-ARRIVAL

All members of delegation are required to undertake a home antigen/rapid COVID test in the 72 hours before arrival in Detroit. Individuals who test positive must not travel and need to isolate.

TESTING DURING THE UNIFIED CUP

Members of delegation will be tested using rapid tests upon within 12 hours of arrival and again by midday on Wednesday, August 3rd. If a person has:

  •  a positive antigen with symptoms the individuals will be treated as being COVID positive and they commence isolation and follow the guidance of CDC guidelines for a positive incident.
  • a positive antigen without symptoms a second antigen test may be undertaken or a PCR to out rule  a false negative.
  • PCR offered if an individual refuses to accept a positive COVID-19 rapid /home antigen test result.

MASKS / FACE COVERINGS

Members of delegation are required to wear N95, KN95, or double medical masks provided upon arrival when indoors in public spaces. This includes in locker rooms, public buildings, hallways, elevators, hotel rooms that are not your own, and in all transportation. Delegates may remove masks within their own assigned hotel room and when actively eating or drinking.

NON-DELEGATION CREDENTIALED PARTICIPANTS

Family, Volunteers, Staff, Sport Officials and Referees, School Summit Attendees, Michigan 5 on 5 Friendlies, Media, Honored Guests.

VACCINE & BOOSTERS

All Non-Delegation Credentialed Participants are required to be fully vaccinated with a WHO-approved vaccine prior to arrival at any Unified Cup venues.

All Non-Delegation Credentialed Participants are strongly encouraged to follow WHO guidelines for COVID vaccine boosters.

Non-Delegation Credentialed Participants are required to provide proof of vaccination and upload it to their respective registration platforms.

Limited exemptions may be granted for individuals not in close contact with members of delegations. If exemptions are facilitated individuals must not attend the Unified Cup if they have any symptoms of COVID-19 or have been in close contact with a person who has tested positive for COVID-19. A rapid /antigen COVID test must be undertaken on each occasion that they attend the Unified Cup with the requirement that this is negative prior to them commencing any activity at the Unified Cup.

TESTING PRE-ARRIVAL

All Non-Delegation Credentialed Participants are required to undertake their own rapid /home antigen COVID test in the 72 hours before participating in any portion of the Unified Cup. Individuals who test positive must not travel and need to isolate.

TESTING DURING THE UNIFIED CUP

All Non-Delegation Credentialed Participants participating in the Unified Cup for seven (7) days, or more are required to undertake their own home antigen/rapid COVID test at the midpoint of participation or stay. Any individual who tests positive or has symptoms will be referred for a PCR test for testing.

MASKS / FACE COVERINGS

All Non-Delegation Credentialed Participants are required to wear masks when indoors in public spaces during their stay for the Unified Cup and any time they are within six (6) feet of a member of delegation—outdoors or indoors. Individuals may remove masks within their own assigned hotel rooms (for those traveling from out of town) and when actively eating or drinking. This includes in locker rooms, bathroom, public buildings, hallways, elevators, hotel rooms that are not your own, and in all transportation services.

Strongly encouraged when indoors. Required any time within six (6) feet of member of delegation.
