Lynna Marie Hodgson

Health Messenger

Competing in organized sports before even entering elementary school, Lynna Marie Hodgson is no stranger to success on the sports field. Her proudest Special Olympics moment is bringing home a gold medal in the 100-meter run at the 2018 Special Olympics USA Games.

But when Lynna found she was not performing as well in her sports as she could, she went to her doctor and together they determined she could be healthier. After improving her health, she wanted to encourage others in her Missouri community to do the same and found her calling as a Special Olympics Health Messenger.

Lynna says, “I have been sharing Wellness Wednesday tips weekly and I host six-week challenges. One tip I share is that it’s important to listen to your body. Make sure you don’t overdo it. It’s also important to drink a lot of water and stretch.”

When Lynna is not leading as a Health Messenger or competing in basketball, bowling, track and field, softball or bocce, she enjoys spending time with her two shih-tzus, listening to music, photography, working, and spending time with family.
