“Coaches are friendly and playing with students from other schools is brilliant. It helps me make new friends from other schools” said Lucas George who is a Special Olympics Great Britain Unified athlete.

Through the incredible funding support of Thierry Henry’s One4All Foundation, the development of Unified Sports and Young Athletes programmes continue in Great Britain. Now entering its third year, the Unified Sports schools project funded by the Foundation has had 71 schools and over 4,200 pupils participate.

The project focuses on two sports – football and basketball with the Unified element being critical to its success. Feedback has been incredible. PE Lead Teacher Dale Robert’s at Horizon School has said “this project has really improved behavior and concentration in lessons for our participants. We have seen a significant improvement throughout this project”. The project hopes to engage 7,200 pupils in total over the 3 years of the project which is due to finish in July 2018.
