From Sydney to London and from Niagara Falls to Abu Dhabi, on July 20 more than 225 landmarks across the world Lit Up Red for Inclusion to celebrate Special Olympics 50th Anniversary!

Among them over 50 landmarks across Europe Eurasia—from Lisbon’s Torre de Belem to Baku’s Olympic Stadium—joined the party and sent a beautiful red glow across the summer sky! The initiative demonstrated the deep solidarity felt in every corner of the globe for the Special Olympics movement and marked the beginning of the Special Olympics Inclusion Revolution—our mission to end discrimination against people with intellectual disabilities (ID) worldwide and create inclusive communities.

“We are grateful for the tremendous support to help celebrate and raise awareness for people with ID regardless of where they live in the world,” said Special Olympics International Chairman, Timothy Shriver. “Light Up for Inclusion symbolizes the continuation and evolution of Special Olympics’ mission.”
