The first webinar of the Coach Webinar Series 2023, presented by Gallagher, is dedicated to Coaching MATP Athletes. Motor Activity Training Program or MATP is our Special Olympics movement-based sensory sports program for athletes with severe or profound disabilities and complex support needs. Hosted by Kiera Byland BEM, a trained MATP coach herself, and Dr. Niamh E. Mourton, Senior Manager of MATP for Special Olympics International. This webinar gave us a broad overview of what MATP is, who it is for, and how we can implement it in our programs.

In this week’s episode, Josh and Novie spoke with Special Olympics Malta Athlete Leader and Health Messenger, Shanaia Xuereb, about her time at this year’s World Games Berlin 2023.

Today, 25 September, Special Olympics recognizes and celebrates its coaches around the world for their efforts in teaching and encouraging athletes through sport and continuing to grow the movement of inclusion!

It is an overcast sky in the middle of September as the leaves break away from the trees, signaling the changing of seasons.

The Special Olympics Coach Webinar Series, presented by Gallagher, is back for 2023!

On a crisp and chilly Saturday morning at Peaks View Park in Lynchburg, Virginia, Special Olympics softball teams from across the United States and Canada joined together for the 2023 Special Olympics North America Softball Championship. Teams, both traditional and Unified, started in a round-robin format.

Players can round up at checkout and a portion of proceeds from online reservations will go to Special Olympics
