From the slopes of Chile to the global stage, Gonzalo Escobar Wernli is carving his path in snowboarding!
Inspired by his grandfather, a 1964 Winter Olympian, Gonzalo started skiing at age 5. By 12, he had shifted his focus to snowboarding, igniting a passion for speed and skill that continues to this day. At 28, he’s proudly representing Olimpiadas Especiales Chile at the 2025 Special Olympics World Winter Games in Turin, Italy!
Gonzalo is more than an athlete. He’s a leader. As President of the Regional Athlete Leadership Council for Olimpiadas Especiales Gonzalo is championing opportunities for athletes like him to grow, lead, and thrive. Looking ahead, he’s set to play a key role in the 2027 Special Olympics World Games in Santiago.
