Through their project, they hope to increase the number of Special Olympics Youth Leaders and strengthen a culture of inclusion throughout their country. Mateo and Olivia will empower their team to recruit and train Special Olympics coaches, Youth Leaders, and community volunteers to implement Unified swimming programs in Chile. Mateo and Olivia envision that water will become a meeting point where the tides of public perception will continue to shift in a direction that creates a culture of inclusion and builds lasting bonds of friendship between Special Olympics athletes, Youth Leaders, and their communities.

Over six months, Mateo and Olivia will connect youth with and without disabilities and their families through webinars and workshops that will promote, educate, and prepare individuals for the implementation of Unified swimming programs in their communities. Mateo and Olivia hope that by introducing participants to structured Unified swimming activities, they will provide opportunities for personal development and promote inclusion through a sport they love. Using the joy of swimming, Mateo and Olivia hope to empower new Youth Leaders to join the Unified Generation as they generate waves of inspiration and spread inclusion across Chile.
