In September 2018, Hanna and Craig participated in the Special Olympics Global Youth Leadership Forum in Baku, Azerbaijan and learned how to enhance the impact of their youth leadership and establish a plan to execute their project back home in Wyoming.

During this project, a Unified soccer game with local middle school and high school students with and without intellectual disabilities will be held so that the students can get to know one another better. This will help make students’ transition from middle school to high school easier and plan the seeds of social inclusion across multiple schools in their community.

Hanna and Craig believe that this project will ultimately lead to a Special Olympic Unified soccer team within their community. Along with a Unified soccer program, Hanna and Craig are hoping to start the process of driving their middle school to become a Unified Champion School. Hanna and Craig’s work as Special Olympics Youth Leaders is growing the Unified Generation in their Wyoming middle school and beyond.
